I saw this on slashdot the other day. Very good essay by Lawrence Lessig. Discusses why the copyright wars are ultimately detrimental to our society. If you haven’t read this yet do yourself a favor and do it now. Read more for full text.

I originally had planned to do a review of Adobe Photoshop from Adobe CS4 this week, but with the impending election, I decided to change it up at the last minute. Photoshop will have to wait until next week. This week I have a combination review and request: buy or download the HBO Films movie ‘Recount’. Yes, it might be an older film, but at this point in the election season, its important to remember a bit of the past.
This film, starring Kevin Spacey, Dennis Leary, and Tom Wilkinson, tells the true story of the 2000 Florida election debacle, and attempts to show how both sides (democrats and republicans) used devious and aggressive tactics to try and push the other out of the fight for Florida (which, if you remember, was the deciding state for the 2000 presidential election).

Over the past few years, I have noticed a growing phenomena that is unique to the cellphone age, wherein everyone has a cellphone that they carry with them at all times. You could not have witnessed the phenomena I am about to describe 10-20 years ago because cellphones simply were not mainstream enough nor cheap enough nor compact enough.
What I am about to describe is something I am dubbing “The Cellphone Ignore”. It has its roots in social psychology, but is a relatively new outbreak that effects people young and old.

Ice cream may be one of the greatest treats that man ever invented (that and pizza, I say). I tend to indulge on a lot of ice cream when I can. I enjoy most any kind: vanilla, cookie dough, cookies and cream, strawberry… the list goes on.
So, when perusing the grocery store this week, I was looking for some delicious ice cream that comes on a budget, that I had also never tried before. Enter: Wegman’s Tin Roof Ice Cream. Stupid name, great food.

While working on a project for graphics, I needed some information on Bresenham’s line drawing algorithm, a.k.a. the midpoint line drawing algorithm, most specifically doing it in C for OpenGL. There was pretty much little or bad information out there or it was some parts making sense, others not. Here is my rendition of the algorithm:
http://crackinwise.pastebin.com/f65383521
This is a C-language version of the code that uses OpenGL points to draw the line. This is just the line drawing algorithm, so if you want to use this in any sort of OpenGL application, you will need to write the rest of your own OGL application.
Good stuff.

lol @ bailout. Stocks fell another 500 or so points this morning. If you were shorting stocks, you are probably rich. If you were buying stocks, you are probably broke. If you want to make a shitload of money, short now, and get ready to buy cause in a couple days when they start rolling out bailout money, a bunch of companies are gonna jump.
Go ahead, do it. I’ll wait here laughing at our government’s poor attempts to fix something they don’t understand.
